Tapan Kumar Roy - Christian Martyrs Stories - Christian Persecution

It's easy to not know what's going on in the world...even though we live in a technology driven day. I can see or find things about any area I plug into my computer; the media scampers to make sure I listen to their version of what's going on; computers, tv, radio, newspapers, cell phones, twitter, facebook, linked in....all wait to inform me. But am I informed?

I challenge you to read about Tapan & others. This is kingdom stuff! Sadly, stories of Christian Martyrs didn't seek me and if it makes headlines it's importance and degree of brutality doesn't communicate. I suppose it makes us uncomfortable and just doesn't sell or create ratings.

The link above is only one story, only one place where you can learn of your brothers & sisters' honor, faith, and love for Jesus. If you want to see how tradegies are used for kingdom purpose & Jesus' glory, you will have to make the decision to find out for yourself. Go ahead, look for it.....if you seek Me, you WILL find Me!

Haiti -- Still Hurting

Pain & destruction have a way of lingering on…….
Think about a time in your life when a tragedy happened.  Did people ‘move on’ before your life normalized?  Trauma never lies anything normal…new ‘ normals’ have to be made.  AND that requires help.  Without it, hope diminishes.  Please consider how you can help.  Below are measuring tools to understand just how far our money will go and just how many lives can be improved.  Let’s change some lives!!!

Although the  7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated this island nation occurred over a year ago, the needs of the Haitian people are still great.  Experts predict it will take at least another ten years before life for Haitians resembles "rebuilt."

  • Rubble still lines the streets in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas.
  • Schools meet under tents or under open skies.
  • Life in tent cities, with overcrowding and inadequate sanitation, has become a "new normal.”
  • Cholera has reached epidemic proportions in recent months.  (According to Haiti’s Ministry of Health (MSPP), since last November over 267,000 people have been infected with the disease,  and the death toll has now reached 4,747.)
  • In many areas food and water are in short supply.

The NMI Convention Project Offering will be received on August 2, 2011,  at the Virginia District Nazarene Camp in Buckingham.  Please place your offering in the large water bottle in the foyer now through the month of July.

Your gift of $10.00 will provide beans and rice to feed a family for a week.
Your gift of $60.00 will provide 100 gallons of clean bottled water.
Your gift of $100.00 will provide 8 people with a tent for shelter.
Your gift of $200.00 will provide fuel to transport items like food and water to those in need.

Nazarenes Respond!!

Nazarenes have responded to tornado ravaged areas and the warehouses need to be replenished with Crisis Care Kits!  Below are the needed items for each kit & we must have 6 kits in order to ship.   Because the need is current and ongoing, I am asking you to consider supplying a kit personally or team together with someone else to supply it.  Please follow the description EXACTLY because ANY variance will cause the entire box not to be shipped – including adding anything not on the list (no tracks, pictures, cards, or other thoughtful items).  Different countries have different restrictions and these are sent everywhere!   Bring your items in a 2 or 2.5 gallon Ziploc to church.  I need a team leader to oversee this with me.  Each bag will have to be inspected for accuracy and shipped by specific directions.   Serving the King & loving others with you and Nazarenes everywhere!  Hugs, Gay

INSTRUCTIONS:   Into a 2- OR 2.5-GALLON ZIPLOC BAG put the following items:
